6th Assessment Report on Climate Change
While Australia is being impacted by floods and heat waves exacerbated by climate change the findings of the latest, and most rigorous, globally authored and peer reviewed report on climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report, has been released.
The Working Group II report is the second instalment of the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), released 28 February, 2022.
This report recognises the interdependence of climate, biodiversity and people and integrates natural, social and economic sciences more strongly than earlier IPCC assessments. It emphasizes the urgency of immediate and more ambitious action to address climate risks. Half measures are no longer an option.
The next release from the Sixth Assessment is set to come out in April and will focus on methods for reducing emissions or removing them from the atmosphere.
