Redesigning and Redefining Tourism: Systems Thinking
The events of the past year have had major impacts on tourism globally and have revealed many shortcomings and vulnerabilities. It is argued that transformational change is required to completely rethink and redesign the tourism system. Dr Johanna Loehr presents her research on reducing climate risks to destinations in the South Pacific using a systems thinking approach.
Dr Loehr is a Research Fellow at the International WaterCentre and Griffith Institute for Tourism, Griffith University. Her research applies holistic approaches to inform how tourism can deliver broader benefits to destinations. Her PhD applied systems thinking to investigate destination wide climate change risk reduction in the South Pacific.
